Eligible caregivers can come to Canada through two main pilot programs:

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants generally need:

A valid job offer from a Canadian employer (outside Quebec)
At least one year of post-secondary education
Proof of language proficiency (minimum CLB 5 in English or French)
Relevant caregiving experience

Program Highlights

Eligible candidates can apply for an occupation-specific open work permit, allowing them to work while accumulating the two years of Canadian experience required for permanent residence.
Spouses and dependent children may accompany caregivers and can apply for open work permits or study permits.
Caregivers already in Canada may qualify for bridging options or status changes if program requirements are met.

These pathways are competitive and subject to annual caps, so early preparation is essential.
